What to expect.

So you've decided to come to a class. Now what...

First .. Don't worry. You'll be welcomed by your friendly instructor, Chris and other students who are excited to create art together. Once we are settled in, Chris will guide you step-by-step through the painting process and give you tips and feedback along the way.

All you need to bring is your creativity and the courage to put paint on the canvas. Classes generally run between 3 and 3.5 hours long, giving you plenty of time to explore your artistic side and create something beautiful. We encourage our students to bring a light snack and drinks to enjoy throughout the class. Painting can be a relaxing and enjoyable activity, and having a small snack and a beverage can enhance the overall experience.

  • During most of the class, the studio is generally quiet as the instructor provides instructions and guidance to the students. This quiet atmosphere allows students to concentrate on their work and the instructions being given. Additionally, a peaceful environment can be conducive to creativity and help students to fully immerse themselves in the painting process. Although it is quiet, we still have fun and are free to enjoy ourselves while painting.

However, to help keep students inspired while painting, we may sometimes play light background music. The type of music played can greatly impact the mood of the studio, so we typically play classical or instrumental music as it can be calming and help to focus the mind.

  • You don't need any prior painting experience to join this class - it's a safe and supportive space for beginners to explore their creativity. You'll learn about the different materials and techniques used in painting, and you can ask questions and share your progress with others in the class.

  • When you come to a painting class, The only supplies you need to bring is a roll of paper towels. You don't need to worry about bringing any painting supplies. Everything you need will be provided for you.

Generally, the wet-on-wet painting technique isn't inherently messy, but accidents do happen. Bringing a smock or wearing clothes that you won't be afraid to get a little paint on, can help you be less stressed about the process.

Final Thoughts.

It's natural to feel nervous about painting, especially if you're new to it. But the most important thing is to be open to trying something new and putting your own unique spin on it.

One of the most famous and beloved painters of all time was Bob Ross, and Chris Severn is a certified Ross instructor who has been trained in his techniques. Bob Ross believed that everyone has the ability to create beautiful art, and Chris shares that belief. Bob's gentle and encouraging approach to teaching painting has inspired countless people around the world to pick up a paintbrush and try their hand at creating something beautiful. Chris hopes to spread the joy of painting, just like Bob did.

Come to the painting class with an open mind and a willingness to learn and create. You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish when you give yourself permission to let go and have fun with the process.
